| Remakes that should never have been made..... Psycho...... Eh!......why?.......... The Stepford Wives.... A movie the couldn't decide what it wanted to be and ended up being not much of anything. Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory........ Wilder's genius versus Depp's inane pretentious indulgences? Wow tough choice. Planet of the apes!......all make up and no movie! The Producers! What was it about the original film that made Mr. Brooks think it needed a re-do. Everyone on the origial cast was funnier that on the new. Broadway...ok.....but why another film The Pink Panther.... Steve I love you in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels but as Inspector Clouseau....it just didn't work. It was like watching someone at an office party doing impressions after having too much punch...aweful. and theres more Sreetcar Named desire. The Vanishing. When a stranger calls. The out of towners. |
| A Plea to Hollywood! Please don't ever re-make the following movies.... It's a mad mad mad mad world. Its really funny just as it is with some of America's greats among it's cast......hands off! All the rest of Hitchcock's films... Just leave them alone for Gods sake. Hitchcock was really good! Not just really good for his time or really good for black and white or Technicolour, he was really good for all time so enjoy and STOP! 'Casablanca'... Come on , who would play Humphrey Bogart's part? Keanu freakin' Reeves. 'The Godfather'......don't do it....nor part 2! 'Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf'....I know...theres probably a slew of Hollywood brats who would just love to do this kind of movie to try and prove to the world that they really have the acting chops.....well don't. Leave it alone. For that matter leave 'Cat on a hot tin roof' alone too. And 12 angry men and The Sting and The Graduate and The Apartment and High Noon and In Cold Blood and In the heat of the night and Singing in the freakin' rain and for that matter Pulp fiction and Back to the future and Raging Bull and Blazing saddles....just leave them all alone and instead go out and make your own freakin' movies and tell your own freakin' stories because as much as Shakespeare doesn't need anyone to re-work Hamlet, neither do we need Treat freakin' Williams playing Stanley in Streetcar named desire. Give Mr. Brando back his role and apologize! Are we clear? Matthew McConawhatsie is not Paul Newman! Tom Hanks is not Jimmy Stewart. Johnny Depp is not Gene Wilder and for the matter he is not James Dean either. OK just so I don't seem like an old fuddy duddie I will do a rant on the great actors, male and female, of the las 20 years...happy? |
